First Impression: Aquaria

The hand painted artwork of Aquaria is absolutely stunning.  The art alone is worth the cost.  But Aquaria also is a very good undersea adventure.  My first thoughts about it were “wow, this reminds me of Ecco,” meaning, of course, that Sega Genesis classic adventure Ecco the Dolphin.  I am still a huge fan of that game.  The controls themselves are simple and in that simplicity they are fantastic.  Using only the mouse to control a game is something of an underused idea in gaming.  Aquaria pulls it off using only mouse gestures and clicks.  The game seems to be quite deep and I can’t wait to play it all the way through.
