First Impression: Metal Gear Solid:Portable Ops

If it were on the PS2 or PS3 or any other home console it would still impress. I only just recently started playing it in depth after quite the fixation on Every Extend Extra, which I bought at the same time. As I wrote earlier, the cut scenes are especially satisfying, being animated in a comic book style that is simply awesome. And of course, David Hayter is back lending his distinctive “Snake” voice to the scenes. As with all previous MGS games the voice acting is top notch.
I’ve gotten far enough into the game where the truly unique and unusual characters are starting to emerge, which has always been one of the best features of the Metal Gear series. The series is heavily researched and based on true to life information, but it’s always a fantastic blend of reality and fantasy that makes for a much better story.
Speaking of Metal Gear, I also just happened upon Metal Gear Acid, which I promptly purchased and will be playing through when I finish Portable Ops. I’ve missed out on a couple of the MGS games, which is a shameful error that I’m currently working on correcting. MGS2:SOL for the PC is on it’s way and MGS3: Snake Eater I will get to at some point in the not too distant future, I just need to get a PS2 or PS3 first.
