Tamiya is awesome…

I’ve been thinking about doing a scratch-built rc version of this car for a long time.  Tamiya beat me to it.
This is the Tamiya Tyrrell P34 SIX WHEELER 1976 Japan GP.  A new chassis and body design based  on the full scale version from the 1976 F1 series.  All four front wheels are steered by a [...]

New truck: Losi 1/18th scale Mini Highroller

The Losi Highroller family is now complete.  Take your pick and get it in 1/10th scale, 1/36th micro scale, or in the new 1/18th mini scale.
The Mini Highroller is a fully assembled RTR 2wd monster truck with a tubular styled, narrow chassis, very similar to it’s larger 1/10th scale brother.  It’s driven by a RS280 motor controlled by an electronic speed control.  Also [...]

The evolution of buggy racing?

It’s no secret that the advent of the short course style trucks, like the Slash, Strike, and SC10, has changed the face of off-road truck racing.  My first thought upon seeing these trucks was “when is somebody going to give 2wd buggies the same treatment?”  Well, it’s finally happened, and Kyosho is the first one out [...]

Did you get a new R/C car or truck for Christmas?

Christmas has come and gone.  The presents have been unwrapped with joyous glee.  If you’re one of the lucky ones, then hopefully you unwrapped a nice, new radio controlled car or truck.  Here’s some of my older articles about how to upgrade and hop-up your new R/C car.
Did you get a Losi Highroller for Christmas?  Then you might want [...]

Two (more) new RTRs from Associated, still no SC18…

Team Associated announced two new RTR packages today.  Both are based on the highly successful RC10T4 stadium truck RC10B4 off-road buggy with some changes and dubbed the RC10T4.1 RC10B4.1.  One is brushed motor powered, the other is brushless.  They both come with a new 2.4 GHz radio system as well.  MSRPs are $339.99 $329.99 for brushed [...]

My nearly complete restoration of a JRx-Pro

BEHOLD!

It’s got a set of temporary electronics in it.  And I’m still looking for some original wheels for it.  I know where to find a front set, but the rears still elude me.  I also need to get a couple new tie-rods to replace a couple bent and broken ones.
I have run it with the [...]

Micro Awesomeness.

Well, I love me them Losi Micros and I love me them Losi Highrollers.  Now two of my loves have become one.  The new Micro-Highroller is a teeny, tiny, dead wringer for it’s bigger brother.

It has officially been added to my r/c must buy list.

Losi correcting their mistake?

Losi is finally introducing a proper short course style truck.  At least that’s my assumption based on their current newsletter.  On July 9th they are going to officially announce
a new 1/10-scale truck packed with performance-driven features like a water-resistent LiPo compatable ESC, an all-metal gear transmission, aluminum oil-filled shocks and a radio system with Spektrum™ 2.4GHz DSM® [...]

Thundertech Racing Pro-2wd Review, Part 1

[ My review of the Thundertech Racing Pro-2wd is a two parter.  This first part covers the features, assembly, and appearance.  The second (coming soon) covers performance, durability, and hop-up potential. ]
I’ve seen the Thundertech Pro-2wd featured in RC Driver magazine, talked about on web forums and blogs, and in videos on youtube.  It’s been [...]
