New Truck: Robitronic EST- BL Truck

Robitronic, the makers of the excessively cool 1/18 scale Scalpel pan car, have decided to branch out a litte bit. They have announced a new 1/10 scale RTR stadium truck targeted at newbies called the EST- BL. But just because it’s a beginner’s truck don’t expect it to skimp on performance or high tech goodies, it’s brushless powered and includes a 2.4GHz radio. As with most RTRs you’ll need a battery (2S LiPo or 6 cell NiMH) and charger to complete the package. Unfortunately there’s no word on MSRP or ship date, check with your local hobby shop or keep an eye on Stormer Hobbies and Tower Hobbies.

Christmas has come and gone. The presents have been unwrapped with joyous glee. If you’re one of the lucky ones, then hopefully you unwrapped a nice, new radio controlled car or truck. Here’s some of my older articles about how to upgrade and hop-up your new R/C car.

Did you get a Losi Highroller for Christmas? Then you might want to check out a couple of my articles about it. I have written about mine a few times, highlighting some of the ways to make it faster and stronger. Two new RTRs from Associated, still no SC18…

Team Associated announced to new RTR packages today. Both are based on the highly successful RC10T4 stadium truck with some changes and dubbed the RC10T4.1. One is brushed motor powered, the other is brushless. They both come with a new 2.4 GHz radio system as well. MSRPs are $339.99 for brushed and $399.99 for brushless. Street price would likely be closer to $250 and $300 (update: Tower and Stormer are showing street prices at closer to $200 and $250, your local hobby shop‘s prices will vary). They’re nice looking rides and the RC10T4 has been a dominator in the racing scene for a long time.

Still no news on the SC18 though. I’m a bit surprised that it’s not out yet considering it’s been advertised for three months now. I’m fully expecting it to ship with a 2.4 GHz radio now though, instead of the advertised 27 MHz.

…from Team Associated. They have released their RC8T and SC8 in brushless electric versions. Electric power systems have made major leaps in performance and endurance in the last few years and I’m extremely happy about that, I’m an electric fanboy. Nitro isn’t going anywhere, but electric is where it’s at now and in the future. So now that two of the biggest players have released 1/8 scale electrics, how long before others join in? Kyosho, OFNA, HPI, you guys seeing this?

A brushless Micro-T

would be totally awesome if I didn’t have to completely gut my Micro-T’s electronics. So not only do you have to buy the brushless motor and ESC, you also have to buy a new micro receiver and micro servo. So that $50 brushless bargain easily adds up to well over $100. I’ve already invested $350+ in my Micro-T, I don’t know how much more I can spend. Oh wait, I love my Micro-T, so no amount is too much to show it how much I love it. It’s going to be a while, but I will have a brushless Micro-T conversion on a carbon-fiber chassis with all aluminum parts. And when I do, it’ll haul balls. It’s gonna be insane.

would be absolutely amazing. Team Losi realized this and has released a complete brushless system for the 1/36 scale micro line. I cannot wait for this, I’ll be heading to my local hobby shop (American Pastimes) tomorrow to see if they have it yet.
