Is the SC18 coming sooner?

Maybe, depends who you trust.  Team Associated’s official announcement says that it’ll be available in March.  Tower Hobbies’ product page is noting late February, which isn’t far off from the official word.  But A Main Hobbies is saying they’ll have it in stock on January 17.  About 2 weeks from now.
Retailers are pretty well-known for getting release dates [...]

Team Associated SC18 Video

Here’s the first video of Team Associated’s new SC18 via the folks at RC Car Action.  Looks to be a good little performer.  And I love that little backyard style track they’re running it on.

This is a video that expands on the peek they gave us in the November 6th episode of The Radio Control [...]

Duratrax Vendetta SC price and ship date

My favorite new car from iHobby this week is, without a doubt, the Duratrax Vendetta SC.  At the moment of the announcement there wasn’t a price or ship date put out for the truck.  But since then the truck has showed up in Tower Hobbies’ online catalog.  The Vendetta SC is going to be $219.99 [...]

Losi correcting their mistake?

Losi is finally introducing a proper short course style truck.  At least that’s my assumption based on their current newsletter.  On July 9th they are going to officially announce
a new 1/10-scale truck packed with performance-driven features like a water-resistent LiPo compatable ESC, an all-metal gear transmission, aluminum oil-filled shocks and a radio system with Spektrum™ 2.4GHz DSM® [...]

Thundertech Racing Pro-2wd Review, Part 1

[ My review of the Thundertech Racing Pro-2wd is a two parter.  This first part covers the features, assembly, and appearance.  The second (coming soon) covers performance, durability, and hop-up potential. ]
I’ve seen the Thundertech Pro-2wd featured in RC Driver magazine, talked about on web forums and blogs, and in videos on youtube.  It’s been [...]

Thundertech Short Course Pro-2wd…

…I have it in my possession.  I took some unboxing pics, and I am VERY excited to say that this is definitely a kit-builder’s kit.  A lot of pieces and parts and a ton of steps in the assembly manual.  In fact, the assembly manual is nearly thicker than the latest issue of R/C Driver.  [...]

Just a heads up…

If you’ve been thinking about buying a Losi Highroller, Stormer Hobbies has it on sale right now for $159.99.  That’s $20 off the regular price, and actually below the minimum advertised price so you have to add it to the cart to see the cost.

Highroller changes…

I burned up the speed control on my Highroller and I swapped it out with a new LRP AI Automatic Bullet Reverse that I had been saving for my Thundertech Pro-2.  I did run into a small problem with the swap.  The receiver lead on the LRP ESC is shorter than on the stock ESC.  [...]

Losi Highroller Review

Big wheeled, great looking, ground clearance to die for, fun.  Those are all phrases you could use to describe Losi’s newest electric truck, the Highroller.  It’s a purpose built basher that flies right and looks good to boot.
Features
The Highroller has a three gear transmission, a 12-turn closed endbell modified motor, and high performance speed control [...]

Two significant events today…

First, I got my HighRoller, and it’s a blast but may be a little more delicate than I had assumed.  On the first full battery pack I managed to bend one of the axles.  That’s not surprising though considering the abuse I was handing out to it.  The bent axle hasn’t really affect much yet [...]
